Flawless Friday 22nd July {Sun & too much Heat }

Another Flawless Friday already, a way to remember our flawless and funny moments from during the week. This is a way I can remember the wonderful moments and events during our week and focus on the flawless.

This week has been filled with glorious sunshine, but sweaty, irritable children. Mr F has been working a few nights which means I’ve been doing the night shift with the kiddies, solo. The poor little ones haven’t been able to sleep well at all which has meant lots of cuddles in the night. Normally I dread getting up in the night, it’s that horrible feeling of just drifting off to sleep, then hearing someone yelling “mummy”. Though these last few nights I haven’t resented losing sleep at all, I feel bad that I have before, but sleep is important. All I’ve wanted to do is keep them as cool an comfortable as possible, luckily I’ve not suffered too badly with the lack of sleep. I can’t say the same for my little ones!

Flawless Friday 22nd July

  • Sunshine and blue skies. At times I’ve felt like we’re on holiday and we’ve hit the beaches hard this week. I wrote a last minute post one evening about our morning at the beach, you can take a look here if you need a blue sky escape.

  • A few really great blogging opportunities coming up, nothing extravagant, but ones I’m very excited about. That makes them easier to write about too.

  • The heat has made our nights sleep very broken. I’m not overjoyed to be getting up many times every night, it’s a little painful. But I am enjoying those dozy cuddles I get and I love watching my little ones drift off to sleep. Tonight my little girl is sleeping with her arms above her head, it reminds me that she’s still so little. While my son is spread out like a starfish, he looks so sweet.

  • Mr F has been working nights, which I’ve never enjoyed. Even if it’s just the one night, he’s met with a face of thunder when he tells me. But it’s actually been really lovely to sit in peace each night (in-between my devils waking up). I haven’t got to watch and rubbish sport or crime investigation programmes. I’ve sat and watched the entire series of Love Island. And I’ve loved every second of it.

  • Our sons room is almost complete, it’s so bright and colourful. Perfect for a crazy little boy. I’ll be popping a video up on YouTube over the weekend and letting you know where everything is from. It’s an ‘in progress’ video. I’ll do a second video of the finishing touches in a few weeks. His favourite thing is his curtains, you’ll see why.

  • My dad had yesterday off and treated me and the kiddies to a day out. I always love spending time with my dad and he dotes on the kids. We rode the train, which was their first time on a proper train, we ate chips and ice-cream and took in the gorgeous seaside views.

Flawless Reads

  • Emilie from not just cake wrote a brilliant post about sleep training. Although it’s probably not the kind of sleep training us exhausted parents are hoping for. It’s actually for our toddlers, to help deprive us of as much sleep as possible. This post really made me laugh because I’m sure my daughter has read it!

  • Mrs Meldrum has become one of my new favourite bloggers. She’s an incredibly honest mum, that is also very entertaining. Her blog is a wonderful mix of parenting posts, lifestyle and tips. This week I enjoyed reading her weekly meal plan. I could have picked a post a little more exciting, but this post fits our life right now. I’ve been looking for inspiration for a new meal plan and I love knowing what other parents have planned for their kiddies. So next weeks meals will be delicious and creative. Fingers crossed my toddler terrors enjoy every bite.

  • Charlie from Real Girl Ramblings wrote a post about being a Selfish Mum. We all have these thoughts once in a while. We all enjoy time to ourselves, time away from the kids and basically, a bit of space. Does this make us selfish? I don’t think so. It’s lovely to hear other mums feeling the same. Parenting is a huge adjustment and I think it’s so important to take time for ourselves to recharge and make us better parents. Time apart makes the heart grow fonder. It’s deserved, not selfish.

I hope you’ve had a lovely week in the sunshine and have a flawless weekend!
