A Meal in Minutes? {Tefal Cook4Me Review}

I was invited to London last month to attend a cook-along event with Tefal. We were trialing the Tefal Cook4Me to see in full just what this appliance can do. I wasn’t too sure what to expect of it to begin with. Was it revolutionary? My main question was, would it make cooking meals easier than it is already. Because quite frankly, while I have two toddlers climbing, running and bouncing around the house, it’s very difficult for me to spend time making a delicious and healthy meal every night. Not to mention the washing up that follows. We’ve been stuck in a rut lately of that same things every week, purely because they’re quick and easy. So I wondered whether the Cook4Me would be a complete game changer for our meals.

We made prawn risotto at the event and it was delicious. It took minutes to cook, no stirring and the whole process of this meal was incredibly easy to make. Then once we’d finished our meals, there was only one pot to wash. Thankfully I didn’t have to wash this one as Tefal had that covered.

After the event I was itching to receive my own Cook4Me and test it out for myself. Once it arrived I knew we had to use it that night,   so I found a simple recipe which was already programmed in to the device. I made a Pesto Chicken Risotto. The preparation was easy and we were eating the meal 8 minutes later. I was absolutely amazed how quickly meals are cooked. It’ll not only save time (and washing up) but it’ll come in so useful when we’re running a little late in the evenings. We can still prepare a healthy home-cooked meal as easily and conveniently as something from a packet.

So if you’re wondering whether the Tefal Cook4Me is for you, then I want to highlight it’s key features and share why I love it. I really feel it’s a brilliant appliance for busy families. We received the Tefal Cook4Me Connect, which is the version that will connect to a mobile device or tablet, meaning many more recipes are available to automatically use with your appliance. It talks you through each stage via your device, which is incredibly clever. Unfortunately the app for Android devices isn’t available yet so I’ve been using it freestyle or with the recipes already programmed.

Tefal Cook4Me Connect Key Features

  • Create shopping lists using the app

  • Cooks meals for a family in a matter of minutes, most take under fifteen minutes

  • Freestyle mode

Why we Love it

We’re a family of four and time is precious. As I said before, it’s also becoming increasingly difficult to concentrate on preparing meals. With the Tefal Cook4Me it requires very little attention from myself. The preparation has been fairly easy, and I’m able to walk away from it while it cooks. Meaning my attention can be on clearing up and my little ones.

Because the meals cook so quickly, with the cooking time shown with each recipe, I don’t have to rush around an hour or so before we’d like to eat. At the most I’ve started preparing our meals have an hour before dinner time. Usually I’ve started preparing the meal fifteen minutes before I have a very hungry family and it’s ready just in the nick of time.

The menu is incredibly easy to use, you can select to cook individual ingredients, your own pressure cooker recipes, the programmed recipes or using Bluetooth to connect to even more recipes. It’s simple to select whether you want to create a starter, main or dessert and how many servings of it you’d like. Then the rest is done for you. I’m so impressed with how easy it is to use and how simple it makes each recipe to follow.

I’ve been able to get my little ones involved with the food preparation and cooking which I’ve never been able to do before. Because there’s no hot pans or oven. Their little faces lit up because not only was there a big red button to push and twiddle with, but they could throw the ingredients in and watch the screen waiting for their meal to cook. Some might think that’s a little boring, but it’s all very exciting to a toddler and it gives me a chance to clean up while they’re distracted.

Another brilliant thing about the Tefal Cook4Me is the lack of washing up. It really is just one bowl and usually a chopping board and knife. How perfect is that!

I’m all for making life easier. I think it’s a smart way to live, being able to better manage your time and with the Tefal Cook4Me you can better manage your meals too. It’s also a very sleek machine, I know how pressure cookers used to look, but they certainly look a lot more appealing to the eye now and have many, many more features.

The Recipes we’ve Cooked so far

We’ve only used the recipes programmed into the appliance so far, but I will be going freestyle soon and will share all the recipes here and on my YouTube channel.

  • Chicken Tikka Masala

  • Bolognaise

  • Beef Tacos

  • Bread and Butter Pudding

  • Butternut Squash Risotto (I added chicken too)

  • Bacon and Leek Risotto

  • Pesto Chicken Risotto

  • Thai Chicken Curry

  • Italian Soup

We’ve used it regularly and it’s since become a part of our family. Each meal was delicious and although my son wasn’t too keen on the risotto dishes, he enjoyed every other meal while the rest off us loved them all. Being able to choose the portion size was also very handy as we haven’t had Mr F around for every evening meal and I like to cook only what we need. Although on the odd occasion there were leftovers, that was our next days lunch sorted!

Of course there are many other recipes and I’m working my way through them (with approval of the other three family members) and will be popping videos up on YouTube if you fancy taking a look.

Overall I think the Tefal Cook4Me is a brilliant kitchen appliance. I’d never considered a pressure cooker until now, I’d always thought they were a little old fashioned. I couldn’t be more wrong. It’s taken the stress out of mealtime and has made me fall back in love with creating unique and different meal plans again. If you’re looking for something to make cooking easier, quicker and stress-free then I’d recommend trying a Cook4Me.

If you’re unsure, then maybe this will change your mind…

We got a Cook4Me at the back end of last year and absolutely love it! It is such a fantastic piece of kit for cooking, especially things like risottos which normally take forever to cook normally! It even persuades me to cook when normally it is my husband who does all the cooking in our house. 😉

I have been looking at these for a while and am sooooo tempted. it’s just the price that’s putting me off, really. That and the fear that it could end up being a large and underused gadget (a bit like my breadmaker…) in my small kitchen.
But it does look really good…and evening meals are an issue for me as I work full time and am a single mum so the nursery pick-up to bedtime slot is very tight, with dinner thrown in somewhere!

This looks like a useful kitchen appliance for any busy family. I’m sure I’d be able to find a few uses for it! I’ve just got used to using my slow-cooker and it’s wonderful getting dinner ready after breakfast and knowing that I’ll have no cooking to do later on. 🙂
I’ll have to check this one out – thanks for the great review!

Slow cookers are fab for limited time in the evenings as all you need to do is dish up! But if you can spare a few minutes this is brilliant I’m amazed by it x
