Weight Loss: It’s Working Day 7

I’ve been trialing Nutribuddy for one week now. If you haven’t heard of it, how haven’t you? It’s all over Instagram – all the cool kids are doing it wink. Nutribuddy is a company the supplies products to help with weight loss and fitness. By fitness, I don’t mean fitness equipment, but whey protein shakes which helps with muscle repair after a workout.

I’ve been using the weight-loss starter kit. You can read more about what’s included and my first couple of days on the diet here.

I was sceptical at first about the results I’d get. In the accompanying booklet it says users usually see results after one week. I wasn’t sure if I had enough willpower to turn down any sweet treats and processed foods in favour of a snack, or that it’d lead to any weight loss. I didn’t think I’d drastically lose any weight because the three meals a day I was having were so large and filling. I’ve been eating large chicken salads (not your usual boring salad), chilli con carne and when I’ve fancied a delicious (but healthy) enchilada I could do so.

A couple of the days I have swapped a meal and had a shake instead. It’s been handy as a quick lunch and I’ve not been too desperate to dive in to a pile of toast afterwards. Some days I have swapped a lunch-time meal for a shake, so I could have a larger meal at dinner. I’ve logged each meal and calories to boot and as long as my calorie allowance didn’t exceed 1,500kcal, we were good to go.

Having a lower calorie allowance has helped me make better choices about what I’m eating. I’m not going to lie, it’s incredibly tough to transition from a carb-fuelled lifestyle to one that limits these portions. The calories that are in foods like toast, biscuits and pasta etc are quite high compared to say, chicken and vegetables. So my portion sizes would be tiny if I chose to eat biscuits for lunch. I would definitely choose biscuits, but I’d need the entire pack, I couldn’t restrict myself to two.

If I were to eat a cheese sandwich for lunch, it’d have a similar amount of calories to an avocado or chicken salad. Although I’d love a sandwich, and I have been eating the odd tuna sandwich, the amount I can eat with a salad is much more satisfying. Does that make sense? I feel like I’m rambling.

Anyway, I know what you want to know… Have I lost any weight? How much?

Yes! I’ve lost 5 pounds.

Starter Kit

I’ve had a few dips where I’ve felt hungry, craving sugar, anything with sugar, but mostly I’ve been satisfied. I nearly ate a doughnut Friday night. Mr Firstooth was late home, I’d had a testing day with two toddlers and I felt like I deserved a treat. Then I thought twice, what a waste of effort it would have been to attempt a healthier lifestyle in the first place. Delicious, but disappointing. I’d never deny myself a sweet treat once in a while, life is for living, but it’d affect my weight loss goals by caving so soon.

Mr Firstooth has also said my skin looks really clear, such a charmer. I’ve suffered with acne in the past which left my skin with scarring. My skin looks more even, nourished and my pores are smaller. I think I owe that to all the water I’ve been drinking too!

To cut a long story short… It’s working! It’s the kick-start I needed.

    Oh ya – I’ve been wondering how you got on with the new diet! Congrats on losing five pounds – that’s fantastic! What a great kick start. And fab that your skin is doing great too.
